Virginia Tech got a commitment on Sunday afternoon from in-state defensive back Antonio Cotman Jr. of Life Christian Academy in Colonial Heights, VA. He is commitment No. 24 for the Hokies in the 2023 recruiting class.
Cotman is ranked as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and the No. 18 player in the state of Virginia. He plays cornerback for Life Christian Academy, but he could also play one of the safety positions.
Cotman was committed to Boston College since the summer but reopened his commitment last week. With reports circulating over the last few days that he could end up in Blacksburg, he made it official on Sunday afternoon. According to 247Sports, he held offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Duke, Florida State, Maryland, Ole Miss, Penn State, Purdue and South Carolina, among others.
He's not the first defensive back the Hokies have picked up in this recruiting class either. Thomas Williams (South Carolina), Camren Fleming (Virginia), Braylon Johnson (Virginia) and Dante Lovett (Maryland) are also verbally committed to Virginia Tech. Krystian Williams (Virginia) could play defensive back as well.
Tech also now has 90 scholarship players for the 2023 season, 41 on the defensive side of the ball.
