The FBS transfer portal officially opened this morning. The Hokies have had seven scholarship players enter the portal already, headlined by starting wide receiver Kaleb Smith and starting cornerback Armani Chatman. Seven total players have entered the portal, and Virginia Tech also began officially offering FBS transfers on Monday.

The transfer portal and the scholarship count can be difficult to keep up with these days. The window will be open from today, December 5, until January 18, 2023, and there will be numerous comings and goings for all schools.

Since a large number of Virginia Tech players will enter the portal, we aren’t going to do an individual article on every single outgoing player. Instead, all information will be tracked on our roster management page, and the estimated scholarship count will also be updated every time a player leaves or commits to Virginia Tech.
