Virginia Tech men’s basketball will take part in the 2022 Shriners Children's Charleston Classic this November. The Hokies will play a total of three games at the TD Arena.
The other participants are College of Charleston, Colorado State, Davidson, South Carolina, Furman, Old Dominion and Penn State. The event will take place on November 17, 18 and 20. At this point tipoff times or television coverage have not been announced, and we don’t know who the Hokies will be playing in their first game on November 17.
What we do know is that Virginia Tech is guaranteed three games. If they win their first game, they will advance into the winners’ bracket. There is also a losers’ bracket, and there are consolation games on both sides of the bracket.
Colorado State (24-4) and Davidson (25-5) both finished their 2021-22 regular seasons with 20-plus wins and are projected to make the upcoming NCAA Tournament field according to Joe Lunardi's Bracketology. Virginia Tech won the Charleston Classic back in 2018 by defeating Ball State, Northeastern and Purdue.
