New Virginia Tech head football coach Brent Pry met with the media for the first time this morning and was introduced to Hokie fans via a livestreamed press conference. We'll have more coming on that press conference, but the first item we want to share with you is the details of his compensation.
The press was issued a copy of a "Virginia Tech Letter of Intent Compensation Highlights" with the basic details of Pry's compensation and staff compensation.
Note that these are not formal or finalized numbers, and this is not a formal contract at this point. We will update this article periodically as more details emerge.

Employment Begins: November 30, 2021
Term: 6 years
Annual Base Compensation:
- 2022: $500,000
- 2023: $500,000
- 2024: $500,000
- 2025: $500,000
- 2026: $500,000
- 2027: $500,000
Additional Annual Compensation:
- 2022: $3,500,000
- 2023: $3,500,000
- 2024: $4,250,000
- 2025: $4,250,000
- 2026: $4,500,000
- 2027: $4,500,000
Total Annual Compensation:
- 2022: $4,000,000
- 2023: $4,000,000
- 2024: $4,750,000
- 2025: $4,750,000
- 2026: $5,000,000
- 2027: $5,000,000
Assistant Coach and Support Staff Salary Pool
- Ten full-time assistant coaches: $5,500,000
- Football support staff: $2,250,000
- Total: $7.75 million
Note: we are told that the $7.75 million total pool for assistant coaches and support staff can be allocated differently and that the figures shown are for illustration and comparison.
