Virginia Tech received a big in-state boost when Highland Springs (Richmond, VA) defensive tackle Rashaud Pernell made his verbal commitment to the Hokies. Pernell is an important piece of a defensive line recruiting class that appears as if it will feature many Virginia prospects.
Pernell plays for former Virginia Tech cornerback Loren Johnson at Highland Springs. He is ranked as the No. 13 player in the state of Virginia by 247 Sports, and he chose the Hokies over Minnesota, Wake Forest and Boston College in his group of finalists.
With defensive tackle Lemar Law of Virginia Beach and defensive end Kyree Moyston of Suffolk already committed, the Hokies are showing a major in-state focus with defensive line recruiting in the class of 2022.
