Tony Robie's Virginia Tech Wrestling program signed its highest-ranked recruiting class ever last week, inking six nationally-ranked prospects and landing at No. 2 in FloWrestling's team recruiting rankings for 2020. (Editor's note: some sources, including hokiesports.com, call it the 2019 class; we're calling it the 2020 class because that's when the wrestlers will arrive in Blacksburg.)
This comes on the heels of last year's No. 4-ranked class, giving the Hokies two top-four classes in a row and building a strong foundation for talent in Blacksburg.
The 2020 signees are:
| Wrestler | State | Weight Class | Weight Class Rank | Overall Rank |
| Hunter Catka | PA | HWT | #1 | #7 |
| Clayton Ulrey | PA | 170 | #4 | #23 |
| Sammy Hillegas | PA | 138 | #8 | #29 |
| Eddie Ventresca | NJ | 126 | #6 | #47 |
| Sam Fisher | VA | 195 | #6 | #70 |
| Brandon Green | NJ | 170 | NR | #116 |
Tony Robie told hokiesports.com: "We are incredibly excited to welcome a new class of Hokie wrestlers to Virginia Tech. Our staff has put in a lot of work building strong relationships with every one of these young men and their families. This day has been a long time in the making and we are proud to have them join our family here in Blacksburg.
"I think both from a talent and character standpoint, the bar has been raised with this class. Time will ultimately tell us how we did but I can tell you that I feel as good about this class as any in my time here in Blacksburg."
