Virginia Tech rising senior wide receiver Henri Murphy announced via Twitter on Wednesday afternoon that he is transferring.

“VT, it’s been everything I’ve expected before signing plus more. God has life planned out for us all, and with trust everything will always work out. With that being said, I’ll be transferring from Virginia Tech. This school and all my brothers will always be special to me!”

Murphy was a JUCO prospect from Arkansas who attended East Central Community College in Mississippi. He was a part-time player for the Hokies over 2016 and 2017, catching 13 passes for 182 yards, and getting three carries for 11 yards.
Murphy also returned 19 kicks for 472 yards in his career for an average of 24.8 yards per return. Perhaps his biggest contribution came towards the end of the 2016 season when he took over as Virginia Tech’s primary kickoff returner. In that season, he had 12 returns for 321 yards, an average of 26.8 yards per return.
