Khadim Sy has left Virginia Tech. (Ivan Morozov)

Sophomore forward Khadim Sy has left the Virginia Tech basketball program.  He has withdrawn from school, but it is not yet known where he will transfer.

Sy played in 32 games with 28 starts last season as a freshman, though he usually gave way early in the game to senior Zach LeDay.  He averaged 4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.

Sy was expected to back up Kerry Blackshear this season.  Blackshear was impressive as a true freshman two years ago before redshirting due to injury last year.  The loss of Sy, along with the torn ACL of Ty Outlaw, has thrown Tech's frontcourt situation into a flux.

Former walk-on Nick Fullard was awarded with a scholarship earlier this week.  At 6-10, 235, he's the only other player on the roster besides Blackshear who has the size to play in the paint at the center position.
