Virginia Tech moved up to No. 18 in both the AP Poll and Coaches' Poll following their 31-24 victory over West Virginia on Sunday night.
The Hokies are one of five ACC teams ranked in both polls.
Clemson: No. 3 AP, No. 3 Coaches
Florida State: No. 10 AP, No. 9 Coaches
Miami: No. 16 AP, No. 17 Coaches
Louisville: No. 17 AP, No. 16 Coaches
Virginia Tech: #18 AP, #18 Coaches
West Virginia dropped out of both polls, though the Mountaineers are still receiving votes.
Several Virginia Tech players were also honored for their individual performances during Sunday’s game.
QB Josh Jackson (r-Fr.) was named ACC Newcomer of the Week. Jackson guided the Hokies to a victory with 336 yards of total offense and two touchdowns. He did not commit a turnover.
LB Andrew Motuapuaka (r-Sr.) was named ACC Linebacker of the Week. Motuapuaka had 12 tackles and a sack to lead Virginia Tech’s defense.
WR Cam Phillips (Sr.) was named ACC Wide Receiver of the Week. Phillips hauled in seven catches for a career-high 138 yards and a touchdown. He is now in sole possession of third place on Virginia Tech’s career receptions list with 172. He passed Danny Coale with his first reception against the Mountaineers.
