It's been a good couple weeks for Virginia Tech recruiting, and it got better on Thursday as DJ Crossen committed to the Hokies.
Crossen, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound defensive back from Greensboro, N.C., is rated as a 3-star recruit by Rivals. The versatile defender narrowed down to his top-two schools last week, and chose Virginia Tech over North Carolina. Crossen was originally committed to the Tar Heels, but reopened his recruitment in January 2017.
Virginia Tech has always been in good position with Crossen. His former teammate at Dudley High School, Hendon Hooker, signed with the Hokies in the Class of 2017. His friend Tre Turner, also from Greensboro, committed to Virginia Tech on May 31.
The Hokies now have 10 commitments in the Class of 2018, three of which have come in the last two weeks. Crossen is the fourth defensive back to commit, joining Braxton Clark, Nasir Peoples and Chamarri Conner. Virginia Tech will likely take two or three more defensive backs in this cycle, but spots are beginning to fill up quickly as the target board widens.
