Virginia Tech added a huge commitment on Wednesday night as four-star wide receiver Tre Turner announced his decision.

Turner is rated as the 15th-best receiver in the Class of 2018 and is considered the fourth-best player in North Carolina by Rivals. Rivals also rates Turner as a top-100 player nationally.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound recruit fits the exact mold that Virginia Tech is looking for at outside receiver. The Hokies have targeted several bigger and taller wide receivers in this cycle, with Turner being at the top of the board. With Darryle Simmons also in the fold, Virginia Tech now has two wide receivers committed that are 6-foot-2 or taller.

Turner is the ninth commitment overall, the second commitment in as many days and is the third receiver committed to Virginia Tech for the Class of 2018. The Hokies now hold commitments from Turner, Simmons and Bryce Thompson. Depending on who it is, Virginia Tech could possibly take another wide receiver, but three is a solid number for the class. Virginia Tech is also targeting both James Mitchell and Kyle Pitts at tight end, but both could play a hybrid tight end/wide receiver role.
