Whitmore earned honorable mention all-state, first-team all-region and first-team all-district at defensive end last season as a junior. He also earned first-team all-region and all-district at offensive tackle. He finished the season with 75 tackles, 10 sacks and 9 tackles-for-loss. He returned an interception for a touchdown and had 5 batted balls.<br /> <br /> Coach Richard Morgan: “He’s 6-4, 250 and he runs a 4.6, so everybody’s saying defense because why waste all that speed at an offensive line position. Some schools, based on their defensive alignment, see him as an outside backer and of course most schools want him as a rush defensive end. It’s just a matter of what defensive style they run.”
