Yes, even going back to Tyrod Taylor in 2007-2010 illustrates how challenging it is to compare QBs across time and systems. Tyrod is a modern era QB, still active in the NFL, and yet his career completion percentage at VT under Beamer was only 57.2% with 2.3% INTs. In his three seasons as an NFL starter for BUF, those numbers were 62.6% and 1.3%, significantly better than he did as a starter in college. And, of course, if one looks only at completion % to judge a QB, Tyrod's career at VT falls behind not just Grunk, but also Evans, Hooker, Jackson, Vick (Marcus), Willis, Brewer, Glennon, Randall, Wells and Drone. The key, of course, is going to be Grunk's ability to turn those completion numbers into some 10+ win seasons like Tyrod had in all three of his seasons as VT's starting QB from 2008-2010. Just as the critical challenge for Franklin will be to put up Ws at the level Beamer did. I think Franklin can do it, and Grunk could be the type of winning QB who gets him there.

Chris, love the Chaos Counter. Would be even better if you added per game averages for each and then a projection for 2026 using that average. Then we could easily see if we are “on pace” to set a record…keep up the great work!

I like the Chaos Counter too, especially the idea of per game averages to level up the current season. That said, it is missing the biggest Chaos element - turnovers. There was a good 10 year stretch where we always had at least one turnover in our favor. Not to mention when we could rely on a defensive or special teams TD every other game. Those are real Chaos.

Y’all should bring back the preview article (or maybe a new podcast) where you talk to a media person covering the other team.

We are already producing long form video content 4 out of 5 days of the week, and two other pieces of short content. It takes a lot of time to produce video content, and our director of media, Nick Brown, also has to run all of our social media channels.

Thanks for working up all these statistics. Good to know the history of our new staff's previous QBs vs. his (our) current one. Gives rise to a feeling of irrational exuberance. I hope it turns out to be rational in the long run. We're all ready for it. LET'S GO!!!!!!!

My conclusion is that Penn State fans' collective understanding that James Franklin can't develop/tanks QBs is 100% because of that 2017/2018 drop-off from McSorley after the coordinator change.
