Hilarious that JO didn’t get a helmet sticker on college football final. Way to go ESPN!

Regarding the QB runs, you nailed it, CC: "Come on, man." Did Mason McKenzie suddenly become a better runner than he had been in BC's first three games? Was the BC scheme more ingenious? I'd say no to both. In fact, with the awful weather, it should have been obvious that BC would lean on him more than ever. Isn't a defense supposed to take away the opponent's top threat first? BC certainly figured out how to do that with Luke Reynolds. (Yes, I know. I'm a little obsessed on the topic of running QBs torching VT defenses).

I was wishing those DE that were crashing down and tackling 1 of the 2 parts of the read option, were going to start hitting the QB Instead of the RB because he was actually the bigger threat to run it, not give it to the RB. Then perhaps at 200lbs, we'd give him some minor injury and get him out of the game. Instead they kept hitting the RB. SMH.

Question for Friday’s q&a: explain why it is so hard for a team to cover a mobile qb?

Colton Joseph is a baller. He pushed the heck out of national champion IU playing for ODU…179 yards rushing on 10 attempts with 2 TD’s. 13 point loss at IU

For sure Pat Narduzzi wants to BEAT CJF from the Pitt/Penn State days. Let's hope we get more pressure from our D-Front to help our CBs/Safties who have not played that well against QBs that can pass. The PITT guy can throw it. Friday night will tell us about our season's expectations. I'm happy to be 4-0 after predicting 3-1 before the season. GO HOKIES!!!

Nice of BC to use the big board to promote what our next home game is. Got the date wrong, though!

Franklin has to regret that “Akron” quote this week.

I have a question for the girl in the room. I kept reading that the ends were crashing and it seemed like the QB would just take the ball and run up the middle, where were the LB's and middle of the D Line? How is the most strategic way to defend this? I assumed they would put a spy on the QB in the 1st Q, but it was like they didn't practice that nor have a quality person to spy on the guy? Thanks for the insight.

During the radio broadcast, Mike and Bill talked about the spy strategy and confirmed that they had worked on it and that one player was "spying" on the QB. Based on those statements, they had one and had practiced it. Perhaps the BC QB is just very good regardless of what VT planned for. If teams could readily conter a running QB, there wouldn't be such a large number of the in games every week, not just against VT.

Saw some adjustments late in the game. it was obvious early in the game the DEs were told to take the back and BC did a nice job of blocking the spy which my guess was a LB or safety. Later in the game we brought in a Nickel to take the QB(IBM blew up that one play), also changed up DE's on some plays they would take the QB. On the Passing plays it is hard for anyone in open space to tackle a good runner. In the 4th quarter you could see we were trying to keep him in the pocket and shut down his running lanes and he still escape. Have to give some credit to him. Was very frustrating to watch.

Great write-up. That Pitt game on Friday is as big as it gets for setting the tone of the new era. You nailed it with the Franklin dynamic—these are exactly the 50/50, evenly matched games where he needs to change the national narrative. Lane Stadium is going to be absolutely electric on Friday night, and if the defense can keep Heintschel contained better than they did McKenzie, 5-0 is right there for the taking.
