I believe Tech can issue revenue bonds to help pay for the arena and not have to get state approval.

About the only thing that's changed in the Coliseum since Tech beat Bama in the first game has been the addition of seats. It was bare concrete back then.

Given the sorry product that CMY turns out, how can they even consider charging that kind of money for any basketball season ticket. I cannot imagine someone paying that for what we are getting right now.

I used to love walking to the Cassell from my dorms in the lower quad. Hope new location, if any will be walkable to on campus students. They are the backbone of future lifetime fans.

I'm kinda glad the cost to renovate Cassell is about the same as a new arena. While I like the layout of the arena itself for the fans at a game, I've always felt the building looked soooo out of place on campus. We have miles and miles of gorgeous gothic architecture laced with Hokie Stone everywhere, but then we have this concrete spider spaceship plopped between the football stadium and the dorms. I know we need modern amenities and luxury boxes and all the revenue-generating stuff, but I'm looking forward to a building that looks like a VT building.

Sooo the next question is, where is It going? It has to go where the tennis courts are, right? Or up on the rec fields across from chicken hill? You don't lose any parking in either situation and you keep the proximity to the practice facility.

I think the old Southgate Dr roadbed area between 460 and the roundabout would make sense. Plenty of land and room for a premium parking lot…with easy in/out access from 460 if engineered correctly

That's a great spot and would look cool from 460, but it's not very walkable, unfortunately.

I'm also wondering that. Where will they build it? And honest a cool side affect is cassell is on prime real-estate. What football related building could go there? Would love an article from the people in the know about that.

As a season ticket holder since day 1, I love the Cassell. However I believe it has run its course. I would love to see a new arena located on campus with suitable parking, great consessions, and easy egress. Won't happen in my lifetime but by children, grandchildren, great grandchildren would love it.

Thank the lord we're not going to renovate Cassell. Even though I liked really liked the renovation proposal from years, I always thought it was a losing proposition. So glad the losers are gone from the administration!

It's still much the same as my first game in 72'

I actually don't think the weather is going to take away our passing game this week. Let's be honest about our passing play-calling. We dink and dunk the ball with a good amount of YAC. Wind won't take too much of that away from us. The issue will be that without the potential to throw deep balls, we're going to face a loaded box for those passes this week (as it should be against our offense in any game, tbh). Maybe we still take some long shots to keep people honest, but very low probability of hitting those.

As for Baker at QB in this game, I think it might be more likely to see some wildcat with A.J. Brand.

great point. And AJ still threatens the pass.
