   Good, well thought out article. What I got out of the article is that if Grunkemeyer stays healthy, we should be in good shape. The schedule sets up to break him in slow and add to his existing experience and the team to adapt to his capabilities as he gains playing time experience. However, if he gets injured, we have very good back up potential with no playing time experience. The coaches will then have to revert to a round robin carousal at QB to find the right fit for this team with a front line that has a few question marks as to how well they can protect the passer.

   I felt a lot better about Grunkemeyer before watching those clips. He had a few nice downfield passes, but way too many quick throws. Maybe that was how the staff worked through his inexperience, but I sure hope we don't see that again now.

      FWIW, I watched that reel and, based on that, I think we are going to see a very talented, mature second-year starter take the field for the Hokies.

   In the portal era, at QB (or any position, for that matter), the dream is to retain the two best players. With Franklin, I think it's a more likely possibility, at least. Regardless, these athletes want playing time (and you can't fault them for that) and doors open frequently. The best scenario (to avoid the portal scramble) is to have the two top talents separated by a couple of years where the older QB starts and the younger QB is clearly the heir-apparent. I love the talent we seem to have at the position but it surely isn't ideal come portal time!
