   It used to be exciting to drink the summer Kool-Aide and then suffer the disappointment that reality brought. Now it’s depressing before we start - no more Kool-Aide. However, we all look forward to your articles Andy! Keep up the good work!

   Great article, Andy, on roster management. I too agree with Bugle'76, ie, Pry has recognized issues and made critical decisions to change the direction of Tech. Heck, every head coach has to be a first-time coach at some point in their career and ALL coaches learn under fire. One has to love Pry's optimism, dedication and commitment. And, YES, I will continue to hate the abuse of NIL. But all of us must get over the past four years of insanity and pray that there has been a leveling of the field where Tech can be more competitive in player recruitment & retention. All it will take is turning the corner and WINNING....and then all our sourpusses will be smiling!!

   I agree with Bugle '76. Some of us feel that Pry has the "Beamer" personality, but he just wasn't ready for being HC. He admits it, he's addressed it, he's made some good hires (0-Line and S&C and OC). Plus, I will always trust J.C Price, a great Hokie. I wish I could just "wave a wand" and give Pry a 3-year extension with his new staff. Looks like a good combination to me. And who better are we going to get since the odds of getting P2 status seems unlikely due to the almighty $$$$$$$$$$$. Go Hokies, yes, I'm a die-hard.

   How do you follow / care for college football anymore as an alum? I don't follow team construction like I used to but how can you? This article confirms the insanity of the portal and what roster construction has become. I will watch most games but I definitely just don't care that much anymore about Hokie football and basketball. It's a sad state of affairs. As many have pointed out many times the past few years.

   you have to admire how candid Pry is. He’s acknowledged he’s had a lot of OJT. Looking at a new roster and major coaching staff changes and a less than comfortable opening month schedule, we should be prepared for a slow start again. I think at this point Tech needs to play the hand out…..we’ve paid for Pry’s education and he’s made staff changes (unlike Fu until too late). He’s made pretty good strides in Virginia. If Tech fans immediately start calling for Pry’s head, it’ll kill recruiting and keep the down cycle going. Last time we had a coach get off to a slow start and Te h gave him extra time, it worked out pretty good.

   Just stepping back a bit and looking at the long view....30 transfers and 20 freshman? Holy carp! And yet I see this being the future, Pry or no Pry. I was thinking there would be some natural flows in the new environment, ie, I do expect 10-15-even 20 transfers from now on and freshman classes of 20+ to something less, but being more selective (that of course still can mean picked over) maybe around 15 or so. So yeah, I see this as a larger trend beyond the current staff, for what it's worth, and not trying to be a PATT Pry seems pretty good at the transfer market. we'll see, I'll at least watch out of curiosity of how this all works out ... if it works at all. I think it will work some.

      I hope it doesn't work some. Let's get better or fail spectacularly in the effort to do so. Not sure what to think if we go 6-6 again.

      The thing that's worrisome is that there may not be a single starter among them so is he good at the transfer market or are we kidding ourselves yet again? That's 30 transfers and no starters among them, not sure theres any there, there.

         Pry's reference was the the 11 added after spring practice, not the initial wave earlier in the year.

   I am excited to see Prioleau play this year. Not alot of legacy in college football these days so want to see him get a chance.

   Pry needs more than depth players to justify his continued employment. 16-21 and low expectations for 2025. The trend is not good.
