   I think TO increase is due to not having a creative passer like Mutts. Even though he had TOs he had a very high assist rate. Now, Pedulla, Cattoor, Collins are having to create more chances and assists than they had to when they had Mutts as that additional “point forward” who was a distributor

   I think you are failing the mention the team's offensive tempo with regard to turnovers. I know this year's team is well over 300 in Div. 1. Buzz's team was pushing the tempo much more (I think?) and that would result in more turnovers but probably more points. Any thoughts on this angle?

      Chris looked at turnover rate in this article, not just the raw number of turnovers, so that should account for teams playing a different tempos.

      Turnover rate takes into account the number of possessions, thus it takes tempo into account. That's why I don't usually use basic stats (such as total turnovers).

   The thing that bothers me most is that the turnover situation isn’t improving. Even in the NC State win we had 20 turnovers (thank goodness NC State had 18). Our opponents aren’t often going to turn the ball over as much as NC State did. If CMY can’t find a way to get our turnovers back down into the range of his normal teams I’d predict a < .500 season is still very possibly coming.

   Thanks Chris. Could you revisit the t.o. rates after the season? A better rate at the end of the year would be more apple to apples plus if the rate is significantly better, we might know why. Improved understanding of the system by the team as a whole?

   So Chris, what's the solution? And could a reason for so many TOs is that other teams understand that pressuring Tech at every stop is the way to beat them? I think CMY and staff need to figure out a way to make teams pay for constant, even full court pressure.....but how?

   It seems like teams are pressing full court the entire game against this year, I don't remember that from last year.

      An opposing coach should be fired if he is not pressing VT from tip off to final horn.

   We tend to lose the ball on rushed attempts at driving to the basket and the very predictable lazy pass at the top of the key. The other area of concern is low post entry passes. We have to keep the defense on our back on the low post entry as well as getting our players to move to the ball rather than waiting on it. I would love to see someone chart how the turnovers happen as to bad pass up top, bad pass to post, traveling, back court, etc.

   Consistency has been the issue with this team. From the eye test of watching most games this yr, this does not appear to be a tournament team at all. They will do something to get your hopes up, then turn right around and lose 5 of 6.
