Kyron Drones will be a big part of the quarterback competition this spring. (@KyronDrones)
It seems we’ll have some coaching announcements soon, so I’m glad to be wrapping up (for now) this year’s transfer/JUCO discussion with quarterback Kyron Drones. Drones was a four-star prospect out of high school, and was recruited by Larry Fedora, who has an eye for quarterbacks.

"....Tyler “I’m Still the OC” Bowen favors."
Still chuckling.

Those drops look pretty deep. Is that a normal qb drop or is it do give better visibility to the qb and more time for route to develop. Got to have some arm to move the ball down the field.

The throwing motion does look off...3/4 up and doesn't look like a lot of zip?

The unwritten point is that Drones’ snaps were limited outside of the WVU injury situation, and Baylor did not have the type of quality QB play it has enjoyed many years since the Art Briles days. So even though Drones may look the part in some respects, folks ought not be too quick to assume he is going to beat out an experienced starter when he could not win the job or at least get more playing time in Waco.

If he can’t beat out GW, we’re in trouble again.

GW was not the problem in 2022.

It is always to QB1's fault when the offense doesn't run well, or is it. I am sure that GW is feeling some pressure, but I suspect he is going to surprise some folks, although I have a sneaking suspicion that the coaching staff won't be surprised if he is QB1 again.

It’s hard to be successful when you’re pressured in most passing situation, have a poor running game, and don’t have talented receivers to throw too.
