On Wednesday, the ACC announced Virginia Tech football's opponents for the 2027 season.
After having four conference home games and five away games in 2026, the Hokies will have five home games and four road games next year.
Here are the opponents, in alphabetical order:
• Home (5): Clemson, Miami, NC State, Syracuse, Wake Forest
• Away (4): Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, Virginia
Since joining the league in 2004, Tech has only hosted Clemson and Miami in the same season twice: 2011 and 2020 (during COVID). It plays both of them on the road this year.
Of the nine opponents, the Hokies will have played eight of them in the last three years (2024-26). The outlier is North Carolina.
Former Coastal Division foes, Tech and UNC last squared off in Chapel Hill in 2022. That snapped a streak of 19 consecutive years with a meeting — a series Tech owned 14-5 (including a 13-3 record before COVID). The Tar Heels' last visit to Blacksburg was in 2021, when they were No. 10 and the Hokies beat them 17-10 on Friday night — the first game back from COVID.
Factoring in the previously scheduled three non-conference games, Tech's slate for 2027 looks like this:
• Home (7): The Citadel (Aug. 28), Liberty (Sept. 4); Clemson, Miami, NC State, Syracuse, Wake Forest
• Away (5): Notre Dame (Nov. 6); Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, Virginia
