Virginia Tech men's basketball will face Northwestern and Oklahoma State in the Charleston Classic in November, the event and ESPN announced on Thursday.

It's the final piece to the Hokies' scheduling puzzle. The rest of their non-conference slate was released on Aug. 12, and their ACC schedule dropped on Wednesday.

It's a six-team event this year on Nov. 20 and Nov. 22. Instead of a bracket format, every school will play two predetermined games. When Tech last competed in the Charleston Classic in 2022, it played three games over four days in an eight-team bracket.

Dayton, Minnesota, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Utah and Virginia Tech are the six-team field. The Hokies will square off against the Wildcats on Friday (3 p.m. ET, ESPN2) and the Cowboys on Sunday (3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).

Friday, Nov. 20:

• 3 p.m.: Northwestern vs. Virginia Tech (ESPN2)
• 5:30 p.m.: Dayton vs. Utah (ESPN2)

Sunday, Nov. 22: 

• 1 p.m: Dayton vs. Northwestern (ESPN2)
• 3:30 p.m.: Virginia Tech vs. Oklahoma State (ESPN)
• 6 p.m.: Utah vs. Minnesota (ESPN2)

Northwestern is entering its 14th season under head coach Chris Collins (209-209, .500). It went 15-19 (5-15 Big Ten) last season but made the NCAA Tournament in 2023 and 2024.

It'll be the second-ever meeting between the programs. The Wildcats visited Blacksburg in 2015 for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and, with Hokies transfer Joey van Zegeren, won 81-79 in overtime.

This is Year 3 of the Steve Lutz era at Oklahoma State. He's 37-33 (.529) with the Cowboys — with two NIT appearances — after stops at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Western Kentucky. They finished with a 20-15 (6-12 Big 12) record in 2025-26.

The Hokies are 5-0 all-time against the Cowboys, including a 70-65 win in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in 2022. It'll be the fourth neutral-site meeting, with previous clashes in Anaheim and New York City (Madison Square Garden).

Tech's non-conference schedule also features games vs. Iowa (Sioux City, Iowa), vs. Ole Miss, at West Virginia and vs. UCF (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), along with four in-state foes: Richmond, Old Dominion, Radford and VMI.
