Virginia Tech and James Franklin received a cornerback commitment from Semaj Dozier on Wednesday.

Dozier visited Blacksburg last weekend and committed to the Hokies soon after. He had other trips scheduled to Syracuse and Wake Forest in June.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound athlete is expected to play defensive back at Tech. Cornerbacks coach Nick Perry was his primary recruiter. The Pleasantville, N.J., native played quarterback in high school, as well as basketball.
A three-star prospect, Dozier is the No. 9 player in New Jersey by On3 and No. 20 by 247Sports. He held other Power Four offers from Boston College, Duke, Pitt, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
He is the 23rd commit in the Hokies' 2027 class and the fifth defensive back. The group is currently eighth in 247Sports' rankings and 12th in the composite rankings. On3 has Tech's class at No. 18.
